The Rook Family Tree

HARRY ROOK; was born on 4th February 1890 at Boughton. He was christened on the 18th March 1890 at Boughton. He died ?? 1964 at The Limes, Boughton. Harry is my Grandfather, although sadly I never met him as he died 2 years before I was born. Harry worked as a Builder/Foreman for the majority of his life, starting out with his own business from The Limes and in later years as Foreman (?) for Whiting and Hines Builders of Faversham.

Harry married LILIAN ALICE PORTER on 6th March 1916 at Boughton. Lilian was referred to as 'Molly'. Lilian came down from London and played the piano in The Red Lion pub at Dunkirk; I believe this is how they met.

Lilian was born on 11th January 1890 at 16 Marlborough Road, East Ham, London. She was Christened on ?. Her parents were Thomas Alfred Porter from Nailsea in Somerset and Martha Manning from London. Thomas was a Glass cutter and Martha was thought to be London Irish. Lilian died at The Limes, Boughton in December 1981 aged 92 years.

Harry and Lilian began married life at one of 'Gobles Cottages', a small line of cottages west of St Barnabus Church, Boughton. Harry's Father Joe Orlando Rook owned 4 of these cottages at one time, he had reportedly bought them after having a good crop of tomatoes! In 1930 they moved to The Limes, this is situated just the other side of the Church!
